Ted, one major thing stopping me from running linux on my machine is the lack of time to figure out how to install it on my 2400. I wish there was an even quicker, fool-proof way of setting up the system better than david's article on http://www.dream.com/linux2400.html. I do know how to navigate unix (i can even use vi(!)), but i am the type of person who'd prefer *one* installer. (i know, unix is more customizable for individual needs, etc.) but look at that page! it's like 5000 words! another reason i can't do it is i have a gv combo card, and i have no skills to write drivers for it. i would love an ftp site that had files like: "01.readme.txt", "02.install_thisFirst.zip", then "03.readThisNext.txt", etc. call me a dorkus, but this is the kind of service you don't get with programmer-centric, public-source policies. (not that capitalist-driven projects are any better.) just call me "customer-centric." thanks for lettin' me rant, jack ... > Basically, Linux users do the same thing as everyone else, but they > trade ease-of-use for power, speed, and efficiency.
