Several few months ago my 2400 developed a broken or loose screen hinge
on the right side.

I called AppleCare and was told that this was not covered since it was a
"plastic part", that it would be $120 labor plus $3 parts to fix it.

I thought about this for several weeks. In the meantime, my 2400 failed
completely. I called AppleCare, they agreed that a dead 2400 was
covered, and I sent it in to Texas.

It came back two days later, working, with the hinge fixed. Repairs were
noted as "reseated CPU". No mention of hinge. No charge.
