Anyone have experience using a portable CD-ROM drive designed for Windows on their PowerBook? Such as the Panasonic, Addonics, or Freecom portables? I'm especially interested in whether CD-ROM Toolkit drivers overcome the fact that the PCMCIA interface on these drives was not designed for the Mac. These machines are so much cheaper and more available than the few Mac-only portable drives. Plus the Addonics and Freecom drives have such sleek designs. Denis writes below about using a Panasonic KXL-810A with his 2400c. Anyone else have similar experiences? And can these portables handle the higher RPMs without excessive noise or dancing around your desktop?
