I know Brian and generally trust him bigtime... but he's awful hasty here, if that was truly his first reaction and you didn't catch him in an unusual moment. You could have a loose internal board which only requires reseating. And your description reminds me of (some of my competition here in Raleigh) who claim everything is a dead logic board, when it's much more often a trashed system file or a dead PRAM battery. This is the first time I would caution against sending it to DT&T. Yes, I do this repair work, too... but if you can find a local technician who's disassembled a 2400 (it's a process... probably the longest powerbook procedure we perform due to the screw matrix and all the funky ways IBM (um, Apple) crammed the boards in. I think a lot of the "dead" 2400s we read about here may be less dead boards than poor fits or builds. e me off list if you need more info.
