I just picked up a 2400 last week, and I too was interested in that fan.
Seeing that it was only $24, I got one. It came in this AM. I downloaded
the computer temperature dectector control module, and then I ran my
computer all morning through it's regular paces. The temp showed 143.
Then I put in the fan, and after a few minutes, the temp went down to 141
and it stayed there. The computer seemed a bit cooler under my left palm
that usual, but it also seemed that way before I put the fan in, possibly
it is just that we are experiencing some cooler weather here.
After I took the fan out, the temperature rose back up to 143, but has
stayed there ever since. In my own personal view, the fan doesn't really
seem to do anything. But then again, if your 2400 gets really hot inside,
it might be worth the $24 to shave off a few degrees.
As far as install goes, they say to install the power logix speedmeter
application and run it the first time you install the fan, and you will
avoid all problems, I did so and had no problem running the fan.
