The fan pushes air into the PB. I am not usre as to how it affects 
battery life as I have been deskbound all day. I won't have it out on the 
road till probably Wednesday, but I'll let you know if I experience 
anything interesting.

A little update on the card. As today went on, it did seem to help a bit 
more in cooling. It probably dropped the temp anywhere from 5 to 10 
degrees. Probably worth the $24, but not much more.
