Howdy all. Hate to get right to the begging for
answers, but here goes:

In a nutshell, here is my problem. I recently bought
a Duo 280 (16/240) with the GV Mercury Powerport
modem. The installed system (7.5) had absolutely NO
software or implementation for a modem - neither GV or
Apple Express. So I figured, no problem, I'll just do
the usual reinitialize/reload dance that all of us
Macphiles are so proficient at (every 3,000 miles) and
the new system would at least have the Apple Express
software (which I assumed I would be able to use with
the proper modem scripts). WRONG. Still no software
that even mentions modems. I have found the proper
modem scripts on the GV site, but I don't have
anywhere to put them in my system folder.
I have an old versin of FreePPP on a disk (which
only occurred to me after reading the last Duo list),
so I will try installing that today. But I am pretty
sure I still need some sort of modem control panel
which I am sorely lacking. I hate to beg, but PLEASE
help. I am starting to get quite frustrated.

thanks much,

-O.C. Ward

BTW, finally got the AUUI adaptor to ethersex my Dock
and my 7200. Sweet. Please, not "told you so's"
about the 7200. How was I supposed to know the damn
thing was soldered on!!
