Probably, since power consumption is similar, but the residual market is
unlikely to be big enough (except maybe in Japan) since the 2400 is aging.
Meanwhile the Japanese yen is going through the roof against the dollar.
Things are already 15 pct more expensive since Vimage pulled out of USA and
on their way beyond 20 pct, not allowing for the much more expensive
Japanese distribution model.
Why buy a G4 upgrade for $1500, even if it was available at that price, when
a complete new G4 DT from Apple costs the same? The new G4s are going to
knock out 3rd party upgrade pricing structures. Moreover one S. Jobs seems
determined to cripple the aftermarket with his ROM on CPU daughtercard
strategy and ROM firmware "upgrades" to blue G3s. That was a nasty one from
Apple, not much better than a Trojan horse.
The 2400 is adorable as last of the full old regime Apple standards and Type
3 PC card supporters. Part time cardbus is bad but anemic video ram (i.e.
slow screen speed) is the biggest single drawback to further upgrading...
