Hi, I just bought a used Duo 2300c/100 (36MB RAM/1G HD/14.4 modem), and upgraded the system software from 7.5.3 to 8.1. Now, I don't seem to be able to use the internal Express Modem, and I notice that its control panel (v2.3.3) is in the Control Panels (Disabled) folder. When I try to use the internal modem via the System 8.1 Modem control panel, I get a dialog box saying the port may be in use by another application; I've checked and can't find anything else using the internal modem's port. This is my first experience with this modem -- all my others are Global Village products. Should I use Extensions Manager to re-enable the original Express Modem control panel; install Apple's GeoPort/Express Modem Updater 3.1.1, which is recommended for System 7.5.5 and seems to be the most reccent version out there; or say the hell with it and use an external modem? I plugged an old GV Teleport Platinum into the modem/printer port, and it seems to work OK, though I hate the notion of lugging around an external modem. Any and all advice will be most welcome. Thanks in advance. Regards, Patrick O'Grady [EMAIL PROTECTED] ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net! A listserv for users and fans of Mac subportables.
