Sadly, the duo internal battery is placed such that you have to take the
whole damn thing about to get it out.  Looks like a little wrapped-up candy
with red and white wires coming out that plug into the motherboard--it's
actually right under the trackball/clicker assembly.

I have a copy of the 2300c service manual in .pdf format that I can email
you if you want it.  It is close enough to the 280 that it will be very
helpful.

The key is to watch out for the little tabs that hold the top and bottom
cases together.  One is over on the left by the battery, the other 4 are in
a row at the front right, by the hard drive.  The are little hooks in the
top and eyes in the bottom, andthe hooks slip in the FRONT of the eyes.  So
the top case has to be slid toward you to get it off the bottom.

You can snap the 'eyes' pretty easily.  If you see a duo that gaps on the
right hand side that's what happened.
