I recently had some memory problems with 8.6 (They were mostly memory
access exceptions), and the only solution I could find in the end was to
reinstall the system - there was probably a corrupted file somewhere in
there, but that would have taken a lot longer to locate, and would have
been a waste of my time...

This might help you, although in my case I think it was more to do with
running large amounts of alpha and beta software and systems(I'm a tester).
If you have space on an external drive, try a clean install there and copy
only the essential extra extensions, fonts and so on across...

Also, one hint for your mail... take the eudora folder out of your system
folder and put it in the main eudora lite folder. Then go into the folder
you got from the system folder, and make an alias of the 'eudora settings'
file and put in on the desktop, or in the apple menu. By launching eudora
from this file, it can be kept isolated from the system folder, and so is
safer if there is a system problem...

Dan.

>Most problems seem to be with the memory error messages (the so-called
>fragmentation problem, I think), and also when connected to the net and
>flipping backl and forth between email (Eudora Lite) and other programs
>like Photoshop and Word in Office 98).
