well, happy to report that after determination, prayers, and more 
determination and attempts to restart, I finally after a few hours got it 
powered up and now it's working...it's disconcerning though that it could 
crap out again at any time.....I heard that the power manager can go haywire 
sometimes...guess it's time to zap the pram
