Once cool everything is back to normal. It usually takes 3-4 hours depending on ambient temp. and what the 2400 is sitting on. Putting it to sleep absolutely helps, in my experience. I think with the G3 nearly all of the heat is processor generated, with some also coming from recharging the battery on AC. I'm sure the HD also generates a little. I assume the processor is doing little or nothing during sleep. I sleep my machine routinely several times a day to let it cool, and sometimes for two or three days at a time. No problems, although there is some battery draw while asleep. It will run out of juice after 3-4 days if put to sleep fully charged. I seldom go that long without using it.
