I had that exact problem on my 2300c. Turns out some connection
broke, I think inside the lid/screen portion of the machine (as
opposed to the keyboard/CPU portion). It was under warranty at the
time, so fortunately the repair was free. I don't think I would have
had the skill to fix it myself.
Check the video ribbon for cracks or a bad connection, and good luck with it!
