Let me guess, the affected bar is exactly one eighth the width of the
screen. Have there been any heavy weights or large forces applied to the
lid of the Duo? I had a 2300c display that had two vertical bars that
displayed garbage. However if I pressed one of the connectors on the
board that runs horizonally on the back of the LCD at bottom of the LCD
panel just rignt the screen would clear up and display images properly.
If I didn't press it just right however that color would vary somewhat in
a way similar to what you describe. Now without disassembling the lid,
you could try to press on the back of the lid near the bottom of the lid
below the LCD screen, in the middle of the strip. To do this you might
have to press the case rather hard. I'm not going to claim any
responsibility if you break the lid by trying this. From what I could
tell, if this is the case, the screen needs to be replaced. One solution
that might sort of work would be you could open the lid up and put a few
layers of masking tape over the bad connector so that the tape provides
some pressure when the lid is reassembled and this may clear up the
problem. Of course it is entirely possible that the display cable is bad
needs to be replaced.
