Can't be! The only upgrades Apple offered for the 210 & 230 before the 2300c
came out was an upgrade to a 250 or 270c. This was basically a fully assembled
250 or 270c (including the screen) without the RAM, Hard Drive, Battery, Modem,
Keyboard or Trackball & Case Top. The main purpose behind this particular
upgrade was to get an active matrix screen and a faster processor (25MHz to
33MHz) in the case of the 210, or to also add color, more RAM and an FPU in the
case of the 270c upgrade. In order to get an active matrix screen, you had to
have a new logic board with the active matrix connector (otherwise, why upgrade
your 230 logicboard for a 250 upgrade?).

Apple did not offer the 280/280c upgrade for the 210 or 230. It was only
offered to the 250 (to 280) & 270c (to 280c), due to the fact that the 280 &
280c was the same logic board for both and only had an active matrix video
connector (unlike the 2300c which has both active & passive connectors). Just
like the confusing 2300c issue, there was only one logic board for both the
production 280c models and the upgrade packages.

Therefore, AFAIK, the only way you could have upgraded your 230 with a 280
logic board would have been to first upgrade it to a 250, but since it would
have had a new display assembly, it would have said 250 and not 230, unless you
just remembered it was a 230 originally.

Imagine the cost of a Duo that was originally purchased as a 210, upgraded to a
250, then to a 270c, then to a 280c and then finally to a 2300c! By the time
you were done, I don't think one original piece of the the 210 would have
remained, except perhaps the trackball (you might have even eventually upgraded
that to a trackpad). The original keyboard would have long been replaced under
warranty (possibly several times), you wouldn't spend that much money without
also upgrading your RAM and hard drives too, and chances are you would have
bought the faster GV 19.2 modem while you were at it.
