I believe there are three different items people are talking about:

1. Compact Flash PCMCIA Adapter: A PC Card that can have a compact flash
card inserted into it, and then it fits into a PowerBook's PCMCIA slot
and appears on the desktop as a disk, letting you drag and drop off your
images (MUCH FASTER THAN FLOPPY, SERIAL & USB). Available for around or
under $19.

2. SmartMedia PCMCIA Adapter: A PC Card that can have a SmartMedia card
inserted into it, and then it fits into a PowerBook's PCMCIA slot and
appears on the desktop as a disk, letting you drag and drop off your
images (MUCH FASTER THAN FLOPPY, SERIAL & USB). Identical to number 1 but
for different camera media. Available for around or under $59 (Dont'
really know why its so much more expensive - possibly demand)

3. SCSI/USB Card Reader: A little box that plugs into your SCSI/USB port
that allows you to insert one of the two aforementioned digital camera
media types (or BOTH depending on make and mfg.), which then appear on
your desktop just like any other disk. If you don't have PCMCIA slots,
this is the faster method available. If your Mac has USB and your camera
ALSO has USB, there is no need for a USB card reader as the speed would
be equal.

Hope that helps, even though its a bit convoluted.

Kodak DC260 uses Compact Flash and DOES NOT have USB. That means your
only method is serial or some kind of mechanism to insert the compact
flash card into. SInce you do not have PCMCIA on any of those machines,
your only option for a speed increase is No.3.

Sorry,
