Peter, I have a similar problem, erratic, but similar. Usually I
just have to hold the back of the Dock and firm snug the PB 2400 into
the connectors...sometimes with a bit of up angle, being careful not
to bend the pins.
I think you've identified the problem, its probably just a case of
how far off the pins are in your dock.
