Andrew,
Well personally it something of a pain to drag stuff to the trash. So I
like hitting command-delete to move things. I am also finding that the
ability to have different preferences for different windows can make life
faster. There are some things I like to view by name, some I like to keep
as icons and arranged in a particular way, some I want arranged by date so
that I can work on the latest item first, or vice versa. I also like
clicking once to hold menus down. So I guess my reasons for preferring 8.1
are mostly user interface reasons.

I can't think of any applications I use that require 8.1. It could be that
you could get the window and file stuff via another add-on application.

I don't find it any slower than 7.5 or 7.6, both of which I used
briefly.>You can get some of those options by installing the Appearance
Manager. It
