Have a >budget of around 800-900 dollars. I have a Fuji 1700 digital camera I really like. To get the images into my 2400 I've been using a pcmcia card from Viking I got at the local computer chain for about $50. There is no faster or better way to download off your camera than a smartmedia pcmcia card which mounts as a hard drive on your desktop and seems to be just as fast in transfering jpegs to your powerbook. The other option is serial cable, which I haven't bothered to use. If you really want to play, you can connect it to your TV or VCR. It's a 1.5 megapixel camera and gives you something like 1280 X 1080 sized pics at high quality and 640 X 480 at medium quality. The manul sez it can do about 300 pics off one charge with modest use of the lcd. If that's not enought you can buy external battery pacs that will give you several times that for about $50. The camera is about $470 from Buy.com, at that price you've saved enought to get a 32 meg smartmedia card (also on Buy.com for about $58) so you can do 44 high quality shots or 140 or so medium quality shots on one card. (It comes with an 8 meg card) The quality is really great and it's got a 3X optical zoom, autofocus and macro. It's only downside is that it's so small (shirtpocket) that it's easily dropped. <grin> Hope this helps!
