the ribbon cable that goes between the screen and the motherboard has either
been crimped or damaged somehow...if you actually press the base of the
plastic frame around the display, you'll notice that it will disappear. you
may be able to fix this problem with a replacement ribbon cable....it won't
be there if you are to dock the unit, so that will show you that it's the
actual display and NOT the computer.
