I'd appreciate any clarification on compatibility of AC Adapters,
especially in regards to a Duo 2300c. I'm not sure whether I need to
keep looking for the M4174 adapter, or what alternatives are acceptable
and safe to use.

Per the Apple TIL <http://til.info.apple.com/techinfo.nsf/artnum/n16168>
and prior discussion on this list I gather:

- All duos use the same connector.
- The last duo adapter, Model M4174, was for the Duo 2300c, is 36 watts
and backward compatible for all Duos.

Question: Will an earlier 25 watt or 36 watt work safely, but just slower?

- The 45 watt iBook and G3 series adapters are backwards compatible at
least to the 3400.
- It has been mentioned on this list that they will also work on the 2400.
- It has been mentioned on this list that a 45 watt adapter will not harm
the lower wattage powerbooks, but it was not clear if this applied to the
duos.

Question: Will these work on a Duo? If yes, but the adapter is
different, can it be modified?

Question: Are there other alternatives I should be considering?

Thanks for any suggestions.
