<< I have a 2400 that recently went into DTT Service for repair. The logic
board had fried. I have noticed that my laptop has been getting a lot warmer
lately. I used to work at a Rubbermaid desk which was made out of plastic,
and had a plastic mat on top that I assumed made the laptop run hotter,
since it was a little flexible and I thought, the laptop kinda sunk into it,
reducing airflow (it was the same kind of mat that you can pick up at any
office supply store to place on top of your desk to write on.
Anyways, I bought a new wooden desk, and that is when I suspect that my
problems began. It was a couple of months after I got the new desk that the
logic board went. And I have noticed that my laptop gets a lot hotter now. I
have been using a marble tile as a cooling pad under my laptop, but this has
not seemed to help. I have also tried the laptop cooler PC Card, but that
didn't help either.
Anyone have any other suggestions for how to cool down my laptop? I came up
to work on it tonight, and it wouldn't start. Luckily I just had to hit the
reset button, but after shelling out $350 a month ago to get my computer
functional again, I'm looking to keep it that way.
Or should I just trade it in for a faster. cooler running computer. Anyone
on ths list haveayn experience with a Lombard or a Pismo? How do they
compare to the 2400, durability wise?
Thanks for any help you can give.

well, the 2400c cannot be beat for portability...I keep mine elevated to
allow air to flow underneath, and I've had NO problems....knock wood. Also,
it sits on a marble tile as well.
I also own a Lombard, and the features are also not to be beat, but it's NOT
really for ME a portable...I use mine for video editing and need the larger
screen for dual screen editing....it runs cooler because it has a small handy
fan built into it...with vents on the side to allow air circulation.
The other thing might be to get a pad that is used to absorb heat, one that
is used to put in a microwave and apply to a sore back or leg. I have one of
these too, and when I am using my 2400c on my lap, and it gets too hot, that
spongy gelpak comes in very handy. good luck
