** Continued, but separated from my battery comments, someday, when I get
time, I'll get around to writing my take on the extraordinary number of
"dead" G3 Newer cards and alleged MB/PB/DB hardware problems. I'm
increasingly convinced that unexorcised, corrupted PRAM and possible
(undocumented) Newer driver & G3 card sensitivity & HD drivers type and boot
block corruption are somehow interrelated problems for upgrades not working
in 2400s. Actually my G3/240 2400 was revived after I put it back together
to give to MCE and put the battery back in. Imagine my surprise after 6
months when I couldn't resist reflexively powering up one more time!

I suspect that in cases of the worrisome "green light of death", the PRAM
battery will otherwise still hold a small residual charge even if the "green
light of death" has gone out. It literally may take a few more hours to
drain PRAM before reviving a dead 2400. Remembering all these cases of
motherboards being replaced in 2400s, keep in mind corrupted PRAM and the
PRAM battery are also conveniently replaced in such an operation. Hmmm...

One of our fellow listers recently got a good price on eBay for a G3 upgrade
not working in his 2400 (actually 3). I'm in contact with another European
based fellow lister who is currently having similar problems with a G3 card
that worked fine earlier but his also 180 has no problems.

I think partially corrupted PRAM, inability to work with the HD driver and
G3 cards/drivers together are likely suspects. The 603e/180 seems to be more
tolerant. Anyone have any other observations? I'll return to this theme,
later...
