Yes, it' drove me crazy once too, specifically with Wall Streets.. but I believe I've found the cure. As Tim said, the mac won't initialize the port unless its connected to something. On the Farallon card (same as mine), you have a distinct advantage... an LED. Set both machines to have AppleTalk pointing out some other port besides Ethernet. Close and save the changes so that is what is in effect. Go back to the control panels on each machine, and do the following SIMULTANEOUSLY!!! 1. Switch Connect via to "Ethernet" at this point, it should obtain "port information", and the light on your Farallon should light and stay lit. 2. Close the control panel 3. SAVE THE CHANGES AT THE SAME TIME SO IT OPENS THE CONNECTION AT THE SAME TIME. I only have this problem when using APpleTalk... I never have to go through this with certain machines... and/or when only using TCP/IP. jay On 4/25/00 12:12 PM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] < [EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: >Hi there, >I have spent hours of my time trying to connect my 2400c with a farallon >ethermac pc card to an iMac DV and a Wallstreet powerbook via appletalk.
