In other words the connection is not going to >the two No, the small RJ-11 Western jacks (if you find them in Germany, not very common yet, our old monopoly phone company preferred their own proprietary, chunkier TAE plugs) have the exact same pinout as everywhere else -- as long as it's an analog line! Usually ISDN uses the bigger RJ-45 plugs everyone knows from 10Base-T, but I guess you found one of those embarrasing installations where they used the smaller (analog type) plug for ISDN. I visited the Grand Hyatt in Berlin some weeks ago. We had a suite (Huge! Got it cheaper, though ;-)), with a nice, small desk in one corner that looked like a desk for getting your work done. So I put my 2300 there and looked for the modem plug. There was a phone on the desk, so I supposed there would be *some* phone jack somewhere. No jack, the phone cable just disappeard behind the closet. Well, after some phone calls with the hotel staff and some trying out I found out that the actual analog jack was right where the mini-bar was, so I would have needed a 6 meter cable or something across the room to connect the Duo. And all they got was a 3 meter cable. Remember, that was in a *suite* in the *brand-new* Hyatt in the heart of the German *capital*, and still they F***ED up badly... Anyway, while trying out every damn jack in the suite I plugged my 2300 in the ISDN plug. There were some weird, "digital" sounding noises coming from the "modem speaker", but no harm done.
