<< i'm having the darnedest problem with a 2300c logic board...it'll run only
on battery power, but not AC (it sees but won't charge the battery either).
have tried all kinds of power manager resets--manual resets, software resets,
taking the pram battery out for a couple of days, pram zaps, etc. anyone had
this problem?

any other ideas? many thanks!

I have the exact same problem. If my 2300 is plugged in, it ignores the AC
and uses the battery. If I take the battery out, it will flash off. I took it
to a couple of shops. The easy fix was to replace the logic board for $700.
(Yikes! Cheaper to get another duo for that price!) The hard fix was to
tighten the solder on the power manager on the logic board (which may ruin
the logic board thus requiring a new one anyway.) It was harder to find a
shop willing to do this fix, however.

I found that it didn't have the AC problem when connected to a dock. So, for
the last 2+ years, I've left my 2300 attached to the minidock to bypass the
problem. It adds extra weight and bulk to my slim little beauty but not that
much. Cheaper than a new logic board or new book.

I once had two 2300's. One with the AC problem and one with a modem port and
speaker that would not work. I needed to sell one and chose to keep the one
with the AC problem, since it worked great as long as it was docked. The
price I'll pay to be able to have Finder Sounds on 8.6. Blip. Zip. Dink.
Puff. Wap....

Jose, see if you have the same problem when docked. Try another power adaptor
if possible (maybe go to a Mac repair shop and see if they have one you could
borrow for a minute.)

Has anyone else had this problem?
