the tools you mention don't include drive setup 1.9.2, from the mac OS 
9.0.4 update.

if you can see the hard drive while it's scsi linked, use drive setup 
1.9.2 to test the disk.  even micromat, makers of techtool, recommend 
using drive setup in addition to their own tool to thoroughly test the 
drive.

if drive setup still doesn't find errors or problems, i'd replace the 
drive just on g.p. (general principle).  "if it don't do what you want, 
replace it..." is an occasionally helpful principle to adopt....
