Hmm. I finally realized I was misreading things a bit. I thought there was a
problem with tempfile cleaning (which there may be, but unrelated). The actual
failure of course is writing the final destination backend. I guess I got
confused by the "temp" component in the backup dest ;)

This reminds me - isn't there an issue with having colons in filenames under
cygwin (due to the : being used in drive names I guess)?

Can you try re-running with --time-separator=_ or something similar?

Also you meantioned you had sporadic problems before with scp://. Were those
errors definitely the same, or could those just have been different, such as
those tempfile warnings/errors?
