Follow-up Comment #2, patch #6687 (project duplicity):
ad 1. I will check.
ad 2. hmm ... I didn't know that compatibility between the same files accesed
by different methods is neccesary.
So, maybe dirs structure should be create one level higher? Not in backend,
but in code which use backends?
Another solution - write specialized version of ftp backend, like gmailfs is
special kind of imapfs backend.
Which way is better for duplicity?
