I'm not very familiar with scons myself. But on the other hand I'll not
switch to SEFNBT (somebody else's favorite new build tool) either, in
particular since there are so many of them - and they're all
incompatible with each other. Scons, cmake, cook, aegis, ... you name
it, I abhor it, thank you very much.

What I probably will do is reactivate the old autoconf/make build system
(without dropping scons). That will also help the Windows port a lot -
ever tried to use one of those shiny new build tools on anything else
but a bloat^H^H^H^H^Hwell-endowed Linux system? I did, and I cursed all
the time.
