Hi gang

Several people have said that they save files with dvbcut and then copy them
*directly* to dvd (i.e. without using a dvd authoring tool)

Could someone clarify this please?
Are you creating *mpg or *vob?
Are you saving the files in any particular directory structure on the dvd?
Are you in any way trying to force the display aspect ration?

My situation is this:
Suppose I go from DVB capture to MPG
e.g. prog.nuv -> (dvbcut) -> prog.mpg

If I copy prog.mpg directly to a "data" dvd, (in an abitrary directory
structure) then my philips dvd player will happily play it but it always
appears in 4:3 format even if it should be 16:9
(and plays 16:9 in mplayer).

Note:
1) my dvd player is one of those newish "play anything" models, and will also
play divx/xvid. When I try the same trick in another less "clever" philips
model, then the MPG files are not seen at all.
2) My tv is 4:3, but telling the dvd player to ouput 4:3 or 16:9 or pan&scan
makes no difference - I always see 4:3 when I try to play a MPG file.

Do you think this is a problem with my dvd player, the combination of my dvd
and my 4:3 television, or am I not saving the file in the right format?

Thanks

brian
