Actually, the vdr files are already in transport stream format (unfortunately
chopped into 2GB pieces). You can save a lot of time (and probably get better
results) if you just concatenate them with something like
cat 00[2-9].vdr >> 001.vdr
and then cut them with dvbcut.

(P.S.: What would be really nice of course is if there was a way to tell
dvbcut to just consider a bunch of files on the command line as 1 single
file without actually concatenating them ...;)
