Yes, of course... you can never be sure, before you looked into the 
recording... but I guess it's (contrary to your case) more probable to start
with an unwanted chunk... anyhow, with the forthcomming -start_bof
-stop_eof options you at least can change the behavoir.

Also the change of the AR don't lead to precise cuts, since the changes 
normally occur a few frames before or after the scene changes (AR is a 
feature of the whole sequence / GOP)!
