Hmm. If I set that to `t', then I must manually enter two spaces after
a period to get proper filling. Although I don't think I've ever
noticed a difference between word and sentence breaks in filling. So I
suspect it would not change much in practice.

What I'm looking for is a fill mode that converts single space after
period to double space after period, if that period is the end of a
sentence. I suspect you need to understand English (or whatever
language is being written) to do that reliably. Which is probably why
it is not available.

I also don't see the point.  Is there really any significant
difference in readability between this paragraph and the previous one?
This one has double spaces after the sentence end.  I don't think it
is significant, certainly not worth spending time on.  I suppose it
depends a lot on the font.
