OK, I've been merrily burning CDs for a while now on a CD-RW drive, and just got a cheap DVD+/-R drive. If I try to burn a DVD-R (real or dummy mode), it doesn't even start burning (error below). I've also tried cdrecord.dvdpro under xcdroast with the same error [and I've updated the drive to its latest firmware].
The very same DVD-R (same disc & .iso) I was trying to burn under Linux successfully burnt under XP with the copy of Nero 6 that came with the drive, so it's not the drive - but I don't /really/ want to have to keep rebooting in to 'Doze for DVD burns.
Standard cdrecord seems happy with a CD-R dummy-mode burn in the drive.
Any thoughts? The actual error seems to be:
Sense Key: 0x5 Illegal Request, Segment 0
This is exactly the same from when I first installed the drive before trying an updated firmware version.
