Strangely enough, the following appears to work:

cat dvdimage.iso | dvdrecord -vv -dummy -dao -eject -

without -tsize

Thus far, i cannot get this drive (LiteOn SOHW 1633S) to burn any DVDs
using either dvdrecord (v0.2.1) or cdrecord patched (burning CDs actually
works fine).

I'm running Slackware 9.0. I have used dvdrecord successfully on this
machine before but with a Pioneer DVD-R unit. I have bumped up the
firmware on the LiteOn from BSOH to the latest BSOS, but that didn't change
anything. I am using Memorex DVD+R media.

Command:
dvdrecord dev=0,0,0 -dao ./test.raw

The end result:
dvdrecord: Input/output error. write_g1: scsi sendcmd: no error

I have tried burning different image files and burning at different
speeds (1x and 4x) all with the same results.

Any help or ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.
