Short answer, yes. Long answer, yes, but... If I'm intepreting correctly, what Denise was talking about when she says 'distributed-installation' is what most people are calling 'federation'. That being the set of features which means you could have an account on www.widedreams.de and use it to read your friend's locked posts on www.uberdreamer.co.uk and a different friend's locked posts on www.dreamwidth.org (and they in turn would be able to read your locked posts from their own sites). Hope that makes sense? It's a bit of a long-term goal as far as I'm aware, or at least medium-term, but one that I think will prove very important for the success of Dreamwidth, as it means people will be able to read and post to their friends without having to talk their friends into moving first.
