Would you consider options like using 'dzen' to display progress bars or yes/no dialogs useful? I don't see the need for progress bar or dialog buttons (according to my
current use of this kind of tool) Regarding the icon, what I want is a quick indicator to know if the text that popped-up is worth reading right now or it can wait. This can be combined with the ability to stack dzens: if a message is ultra-important it will show the corresponding icon and will dismisses only when clicked. I like the text-messages used in media-players to signal the begining of a song with the title and the cover. Amarok, listen, quod-libet...they all have nice message windows. I don't know if they are very dependant on something more than gtk... -- Julián
