I don't want to start any type of political war, but if I'm not mistaken I believe Ed was asked to leave about the same time NK re-started it's nuke program and political activies around that. I believe nearly ALL non-nationals were expelled at that time.
I'd be willing to bet Ed's QRT had nothing to with the "proper authorities" learning about his operation.
