The A52AM situation was in long and argumentative discussions on at least two other reflectors that I subscribe to last week. From what I gathered from both of those sources, the answer is probably "no."
Now I haven't discussed it with Bill Moore (and won't without good reason, as I never worked the fella) so I don't know what his reasons are. He is the definitive source. All else is speculation. A couple of possible reasons come to mind... the license may have been not just cancelled but retracted retroactively, he may have been operating on "probation" for one reason or another (rumor has it that the inspection that discovered the amplifier in line and wired up may not have been his first offense -- remember, that's a rumor or allegation, not a fact) and violated it one time too many. It could be as simple as his license was confiscated on the spot, and thus he has no paperwork or copies thereof to show the League. Regardless; if the authorities informed the RSGB, they probably informed other organizations (like ARRL), and if that is the case, what they said is the final word on the subject. It's a shame. But the blame falls on the shoulders of one person: The operator who broke the rules under which he was permitted to operate. 73, ron w3wn -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of mike giddings Sent: Monday, December 17, 2007 4:28 PM To: dx-chat@njdxa.org Subject: [DX-CHAT] Re:A52AM A paragraph in the January issue of "Radio Communication" mentions that the RSGB have recently received an email from the Director,Bhutan Infocomm and Media Authority, to the effect that the callsign A52AM was cancelled on the 27 September 2007 and any subsequent operation under that callsign is illegal. The stated reason is that the station was operating with 1kW despite the 100 watt power limit in force in Bhutan. Anyone know if the ARRL will still honour QSO's with A52AM for DXCC purposes prior to 27 September 2007?
