Hello gang--
An earlier post to this reflector by one of the pilots, Lee ZL2AL, says that TO4E would be used on the WARC bands during the contest. We already knew that TO4WW would be the expedition callsign during the contest.
Around 0145 utc, we're listening to TO4WW on 14.042 working the pileup. Nevermind that TO4E is still being spotted on 40m. Anyway, TO4WW abruptly stops transmitting, and then TO4E is on 14.002 minutes later giving contest exchanges.
So what happened? Did the team decide to switch callsigns in mid swing? Or did a pirate show up as TO4E on 14.002 while TO4WW maybe stopped to gas up the generators? Possible, if TO4WW returned shortly, which did not happen.
I e-mailed the West Coast pilot, Frank AH0W, asking him to verify with the team and make an announcement.
