Hello DXers.... Here is my VU4 update Dec 16 at 0530 Z.

1. The SteppIR 2 el beam arrived and we put it together. Tested at 10 feet and it works.... it will go up higher at the Port Blair Science Museum today. I hv relayed the advantage of long and short path switching of this ant. to operators here. Thanks to the donor!!!!!

2. One or two more beams are due here today.

3. We still need band pass filters for 40, 20 and 15.... will allow one aditional station to get on and that one is likely to be all CW. If someone can donate or LOAN one or more of these filters, please mail them fast mail. Items are arriving here without diversions (altho the duty is stiff sometimes).

4. VU4RBI did over 100 CW contacts this morning (local time) on 15m. during operning to JA.

5. Everyone here knows about the vast need for VU4 to stateside.... the windows are about 1 hr. long these days. I have put in the plea to all ops to call NA during the path openings. We are trying.

6. No one here has the time nor the inclination to search the log books for individual call signs. Please do not ask. The log books are in three locations and there must be two dozen of them by now.

7. Also, please do not send me any more advice about when VU4 should get on and what band. I am FULL of propagation advice, please understand. All ops are --to one degree or another- aware of the paths and the needs.

Other stuff.... The temp here is tropical , mild and slight breeze. The Sinclairs Hotel is lovely with breathtaking ocean views and Bharathi has that view with every daytime contact. Nights are vy mild. Lots of veggy food and tea. Bharathi's op position is on a top floor with the beams and several dipoles directly overhead. She left her hotel room only once since arrival and that was for only an hour. I do not know when she sleeps or eats... She is really on the air every minute and is very clear and definite in her directions to callers. A great operator who is also vy kind to everyone.
Many studnets from local college have come by to watch and also to hold guy ropes from time to time. I have gotten several hours of video and rolls and rolls of photos ... other than the ham operations, every where u look is another great photo view. Give VU4 a call, eh? 73
