Hey guys,
Some notes on DXCC criteria are missing a few points in the DXCC criteria. Once accepted as a valid entity under the rules in place at the time of acceptance kind of guarantees that you're on the list forever. Removal of DXCC status is more complicated than mentioned. That is: If the government status changes. Minerva was taken over by Tonga. Walvis Bay and the Penguin Islands gave up their independence and were joined into Namibia. Panama Canal Zone (I was there 10 days ago!) was dissolved and given back to Panama. However, places like OH0, KP1 (I sailed within 10 miles of Navassa Island two weeks ago and it's still there!), KP5 etc. status have not changed. If governmental etc. status doesn't change, these entities stay on the list. Each entity has it's own story (and most selections are very intriguing)! Nuff sed.

You are correct. Also the Panama Canal Zone and Okinawa come to mind. I think the first deleted country was Newfoundland/Labrador in about 1948.

The Penguins & Walvis Bay were deleted when, 10 years ago? 73 Russ W4UBC

Not quite. If a entity is recognized once, then recognition is almost never taken away. Once and entity, always an entity. There are few exceptions. Minerva Reef is one that comes to mind.
Ham radio goes through this once or twice every two or three years with everybody getting upset.

The ARRL criteria is wholly & solely based on who is/is not asking for the change.(period)
