SUMMER propagation is unlike any other season.

MUF's are LOWER in summer due to solar heating
of the ionosphere (which expands, thus reducing
ion density which results in Lower MUF).

Bottom Line, 10M propagation to EU (almost) vanishes.
MUF's also rise much more slowly in summer (notice
the EU openings on 15M in the afternoon / evening,
openings to JA and the Far East in the Mornings, etc.

Low Band ABSORPTION increases greatly during summer
due to the longer days and 24 hour daylight over the north pole.
160 and 80M propagation to EU / Asia (almost) disappears
in summer. 40M propagation peaks well after dark. Best times
on the Low bands are in the mornings and can linger for an
hour or two past Sunrise due to the slow increase in MUF
following SR.
