Interesting that DX4WIN no longer replies to the writer of the message, but to the whole group.
I have DX4WIN and Writelog on an Athlon 1600 system running under Windows 2000. It is an excellent operating system. There are few advantanges and lots of disadvantages to go to XP Pro, and I would not even bother with XP home. You can buy Windows 2000 Pro as an OEM package for a little over $100 making it a very real bargain as well as a very stable operating system with good support. The LPT Issue is simply that Wayne chooses not to write a driver for the LP port to support Writelog. Has nothing to do with the operating system and I am sure he will eventually get around to it. In the meantime the serial ports do everything the LPT ports do for me. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Stan Staten Sent: Monday, December 31, 2001 4:50 PM To: DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] New Computer - Which Windows to use? I am posting this to both Writelog and DX4WIN. I am building an new AMD 1500 system for use here in the shack. There has been a lot of discussion of which operating systems work best or have problems (like LPT CW keying). I am now faced with the choice of WIN98SE, WIN2K, WIN XP Pro and Home. Which one should I use? Looking for advice. To conserve bandwidth it may be best to send any thoughts or suggestions you may have directly to me rather than posting it. Thanks in advance & 73 Stan, [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ Dx4win mailing list Dx4win@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win
