Wonder what "chipset" the motherboard was using????? It's sure not to the Athlon! Regarding memory, Pete, it is actually VERY high right now, basically twice as much as I month ago. 256mb DDR ram is now $70.00!!!!! Still memory overall (for what you get, i.e. bang for the buck) is cheap.

Just by contrast, I replaced the motherboard in my wife's machine with a 900 MHz Athlon and had zero problems. FWIW, www.tigerdirect.com has some very inexpensive motherboard and CPU bundles, and memory is so cheap right now it's a great time to upgrade. 73, Pete N4ZR The revised World Contest Station Database is online at www.pvrc.org _______________________________________________ Dx4win mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win
