I recently had this question: With an Icom 765, when I mouse on a CW DX spot, the wide filter is automatically selected. I wanted the narrow filter to be selected in this case, so the question was: How to do that? Here's how I accomplished it with the Icom 765.
1. In the DX4WIN/SAVE directory, I found the file called Icom 765.rig and renamed it "Icom 765CWWide.rig" and made a copy and named it "Icom 765CWNarrow.rig". 2. From the DX4WIN File menu, I went to Databases / Radios and selected "Icom 765CWWide" as the Radio model. This was just to make sure that everything still worked after the name change. Note that after editing the radio information, DX4WIN disables the Radio communications and you'll have to go to File / Preferences / Radio and specify the Type. I used "Icom 765CWWide" here. After this, the wide filter was selected on CW spots just as before. 3. I then went to File / Datebases / Radios and selected "Icom 765CWNarrow" as my Radio model. Next, I went to the Cmds/Fields tab and selected the Set Mode command from the pull-down list. The command string that appears just below is: 0600FD. I changed that to 060002FD. The "02" causes the narrow filter to be selected. I then saved the change by File / Save Changes and Exit. 4. At this point, I had to go back to File / Preferences again and set the radio model to "Icom 765CWNarrow". After DX4WIN was again communicating with the 765, mousing on a CW DX spot caused the narrow CW filter to be selected. If I want to go back to having the wide filter selected, I just change the radio model to "Icom 765CWWide". I strongly suggest you make a backup copy of the .rig file you're dealing with before making changes via the editor. K8AC Floyd Sense in Angier, NC
