I wrote a small batch file for the old PKZIP
program that writes the data in the SAVE folder
to a floppy. It can easily be modified to save
the data wherever you want. It incorporates a
"freshen" feature that only writes the changed
data during the backup. Let me know if interested
and I'll send it along as an attachment.

The DOS xcopy command with the "/DY" argument will do the same when used
in a simple batch file.

The XCOPY command does not do any compression and I couldn't
see any way to NOT copy files in a directory. I have my batch
file set up so that it doesn't copy temp files in the SAVE
directory (those with a ~).

What does the "MODIFIED" mean at the top left of the screen and what does the
numbers counting down mean? Does this have something to do with the "backup"
facility?
Thanks.

That's a great start, Roger, but you still have to run it by hand.

I like the Iomega Automatic Backup program because it runs silently
in the background without user intervention.

People will generally do the minimum to get by, so relying on them to
initiate backups is a bad policy, in my opinion.
