Don't you just love the way one is attacked for offering experience-based
advice?

In fact, having generally used card-checkers at conventions, I was
blind-sided when I sent my cards direct to ARRL and had some 700 Q's
entered, when I only intended to submit fewer than 300. And I do not have to
call the DX Desk and speak to Bill--I have done that many times. as Bill and
I are good friends.

Card checkers need the list (because only the list, not the cards, go to
Newington).  If you send cards to ARRL, then they don't use it.
